The concept of our project has been meticulously developed to illuminate the pervasive state of
misinformation and manipulation that impacts our information consumption, polarizing views through the
influence of AI and political agendas. In the realm of net culture, digital citizens are increasingly
trapped within echo chambers, where the repeated exposure to similar ideas not only amplifies misinformation
but also crafts a distorted reality. This perpetuates a cycle where the public is constantly misled by
fragmented yet compelling narratives driven by corporations, the power of AI, and government agendas. Our
installation aims to encapsulate the contemporary state of our society through a multimedia and
multi-sensory interactive experience, creating beautified, illusional spaces that engage the public who may
not realize their true surroundings or the nature of the information they consume. This project seeks to
provoke thoughtful discussion and challenge these pervasive issues. We intend to engage audiences directly
on these critical matters and explore the dynamics of digital citizenship in our interconnected world.
Concept
'Echo’ is an immersive installation that delves into the power imbalances of our digital era by exposing
how social media and AI can distort reality. It simulates a world where manipulated shadows of information
obscure truth, much like figures lurking just beyond direct sight. 'Echo' challenges visitors as digital
citizens in an evolving landscape to discern the authenticity of fragmented and overwhelming digital data,
prompting a deeper consideration of how such narratives shape public consciousness and distort our
perceptions of reality.
This is a collaborative project involving Binna Lee as the Creative Director, Sichun Zhang as the Visual
Designer, Roy Yang as the Creative Technician, and Jay Torin as the Sound Designer. Together, we aim to
highlight the transformative potential of artistic expression to challenge prevailing narratives and
reevaluate the impact of our digital engagements.
This installation uses visual and audio-reactive technologies to create an interactive, projection-mapped
hollow cube sculpture with threads. The cube is filled with fragments of cascading lights that dynamically
respond to audience voices and soundscapes, symbolizing the echo chambers of digital media.
Team Echo
At Team Echo, we aim to use artistic expression to challenge
prevailing narratives and reassess the impact of
our digital interactions.
